The Frank G. Burnett Scholarship Fund will provide a scholarship for a deserving student that has been accepted in the North Carolina Central University’s School of Education Department of Speech and Communication Disorders two-year Masters Program.
The scholarship is named for the later Frank G. Burnett, who helped found The James E. Shepard Sertoma Club in Durham, NC in 1983. Frank always epitomized SERTOMA which is an acronym of the words SERvice TO MAnkind. James E. Shepard Sertoma Club is part of Sertoma Foundation, Inc. an international charitable civic organization that believes that universal communication, whether heard, seen or spoken, is the key to human understanding.
Our annual Awards Banquet will now be the main fundraiser for this two-year scholarship. Through ticket sales and generous donations we hope to honor Frank’s name for the rest of our existence. Our Awards Banquet will usually take place in May or June of every year.
